Funding Options for Mid-Life Startup Founders & Experienced Entrepreneurs

Entrepreneurship usually requires startup and growth funds, whether the founders have their own assets or apply to get grants, loans or investments. Join Stage2Startups and LIU-Brooklyn’s Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation as we start the first in a series of panel speaker events for the mid-life entrepreneur or potential founder.

This first event features two women CEOs who have raised money, a credit management specialist, a NYC business solutions specialist who helps companies apply for money and a representative from a credit union. Somewhere there is money for your startup and, if the answers are not in this session, look for our fall follow-up session on “CEOs & FundRaising, Part 2.”

The Panelists include:

*Helena Fogarty, CEO of Mi Ola, a luxury surf bikini company, who left Chanel to start her company and will share her experience fundraising from angels, crowdfunding and equity financing and discuss the importance of self-funding.

*Angel Garcia represents the Lower East Side People's Credit Union and will provide insight on the loan process.

*Calvin Fletcher, from NYC Small Business Solutions, will discuss how NYC can help companies package loans and bring them to the funding sources – for free!

*Andres Rosa, CEO of The Business Kings, will speak about managing one's credit rating to facilitate the loan process.

Our moderator will be Dawn McGee Strickland, director of LIU Brooklyn's Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, who was part of a startup team that raised over $5 million in venture financing and was a founding board member of the award-winning arts and social justice organization the Laundromat Project.

Refreshments will be served. Look for our survey about your needs to facilitate networking on the day of the event. All participants should note that by signing up for this event, you give Stage2Startups and LIU-Brooklyn the right to video your attendance at this event, which will also be sent to attendees by link.

More information on all the speakers will be available on the day of the event and at starting July 1. Information on other events, such as our "CEOs talk about the startup experience after life working for someone else" on August 30, will also be available then.
